What Are Dental Implants?
Every tooth has a root that’s embedded into the jawbone. Implants are designed to mimic those roots. They are small, biocompatible titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone. Once they are in place, they fuse with the bone over time. This stimulates the jawbone and prevents bone deterioration all while providing a stable foundation for the replacement teeth to connect with.
Natural-Looking, Implant-Supported Restorations
After the implants are fused in place, we move on to the next portion of the process: tooth restorations. We use dental crowns for single-tooth replacement, dental bridges to replace multiple missing teeth in a row, and dentures to replace most or all of the teeth on an arch. If you are wary about having noticeable metal implant posts in your mouth, don’t worry! Once your tooth restorations are connected to your implants, the implants will be completely hidden and invisible.
Am I a Good Candidate for Implants?
If you are missing teeth, chances are that you are a great candidate for dental implants. However, implants do require a healthy, dense jawbone for successful placement, so if you have had missing teeth for a while, your jawbone density may not be where it needs to be for the procedure.
